The Hen's Nest...Clucking about Crafts

Friday, August 5, 2011

I think I am slighty behind with this section of the blog....ooops.  The craft thing for me is kind of a cold-weather projects, just like most crafts.  I save these for I am stuck inside.  Being that it's August, I guess it's not far away is it?  I have come across a lot of ideas that I would like to try.  We'll see about that.....

As for that quilt I have been on hiatus with, here's the pic...still a work in progress, but soon nature's colors will remind me why I created this!

(Unfortunately, I need to figure out how turn this baby, but you get the idea!)

So, today I made a dress for Hannah, it was really not bad for the making.  I am not a pro at sewing clothing, but I found this dress on a blog that I read, Living With Punks...Susan has the tutorial on there,  THANK YOU!!! It's awesome.  I think this will be Hannah's Easter dress, as long as it's warm enough out! :)

The date's wrong on the pic, but oh well.  I am kinda proud of myself! :)  hehehee. Even made my own bias tape!

I would like to share some of my crafts, nothing crazy, but things that keep me busy.  I love quilting, even though I don't get to spend a whole lot of time doing it.  There's just something about quilts that are so comforting...or maybe it's the fact that you can get totally lost in one.  And although many have patterns, you can create ones that don't have any rules.  That's really more my style, less comformity the better! I get too bored.  I have an applique quilting project that I started about 6 months ago, I will try to get a picture posted.  My inspiration was that autumn was approaching, and I just love autumn.  We have three Crimson Maples in our front yard, and even though they aren't huge yet, they are still lovely.  Autumn's leaves are beautiful and vibrant. The smell of the air  is crisp and the breeze is a refreshing break from the summers sticky air.  Leaves fall from the trees so gracefully, floating down to the ground.  Well, unless there's a good heavy rain, and lots of wind...they all kind of fly sideways for a while...
